Former University of Kentucky head coach John Cohen and his Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated Western Kentucky University 9-3 Wednesday. Senior second baseman Matt Payton drove in two runs for WKU in the game, and sophomore center fielder Kes Carter and junior catcher Matt Rice each had two hits in the game. Sophomore right-handed reliever Craig Stem took the loss after allowing two runs without recording an out.
