Eastern Kentucky University couldn’t carry its momentum from a four-game winning streak into High Point, N. C. The Colonels were swept in a three-game slugfest and outscored 47-25 total. - Rodriguez sets the table: EKU leadoff man and sophomore shortstop Richie Rodriguez did his job for the weekend by getting on base. In three games, Rodriguez was 9-16 (.563) with four runs scored and one RBI. He is batting .411 with one home run, eight RBI and nine runs scored on the season.
- Langfels and Ottrando continue to slug: Junior third baseman Jayson Langfels was 7-15 (.467) with a home run, five RBI and five runs scored on the weekend. Senior first baseman Anthony Ottrando was 7-14 (.500) with one home run, nine RBI and four runs scored.
- Pitching gets ugly: The staff gave up 47 runs in three games against High Point. Only three pitchers escaped their appearance unscathed and each of those appearances lasted less than one complete inning. Two different EKU starters gave up 10 runs, but junior right-handed pitcher Stephen Hefler fared the best with only three runs allowed in six and one-third innings Saturday.
