Purdue rallies for three in eighth to take down EKU 7-3

Purdue University scored three runs in the eighth inning and added two insurance runs in the ninth inning to defeat Eastern Kentucky University 7-3 Wednesday and earn a split in the two-game mid-week series. Junior right-handed closer Ryne Purcell took the loss after allowing three runs in one inning. Sophomore left-handed pitcher Greg Terry cemented his spot as the Colonels best pitcher thus far in 2010 with a no decision after allowing two runs in six innings.

Sophomore designated hitter Jacob Daniel paced the EKU offense with two hits, and sophomore shortstop Richie Rodriguez and sophomore right fielder Michael Garcia each drove in a run. Grisham, senior first baseman Anthony Ottrando and junior left fielder Ryan Faidley each scored a run for EKU. The Colonels fell to 7-7 on the season. (Box Score)

BluGrass Baseball POG: Greg Terry — Terry has been the Colonels best pitcher thus far in 2010 after being used mostly as a reliever early this season. In his second start of the year, Terry allowed two runs on six hits in six innings. He struck out one and walked one in the no decision. On the year Terry is 1-0 with a 2.50 ERA in 18 innings pitched.
