Three teams to make the NCAA tournament according to Rivals.com projections; one surprise team left out of the field

I generally wouldn’t devote an entire post to this one story, but the possibilities were too great to pass up. Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com and Yahoo! Sports has released his latest projections for the NCAA baseball field of 64, and three Kentucky teams made the cut, just not the three you expected. Rogers has the University of Louisville as the sixth ranked team in the tournament and a one seed host of its own region. Also joining UofL for some June baseball in Louisville would be Western Kentucky University as the two seed in the region and Eastern Kentucky University as the four seed and automatic qualifier from the Ohio Valley Conference. Noticeably absent from the projection is the University of Kentucky, who Rogers includes as one of the next ten out of the field. (Read more)

The list is worth next to nothing in terms of real plans for the opening weekend of the tournament but does provide an important look at just what kind of stakes UK is playing for after its 1-5 start to Southeastern Conference play. The Cats could surely use a series win at Arkansas this weekend. Also, EKU may not end up being the OVC representative, but you have to like the chances of it being a Kentucky school with Murray State and Morehead State also playing well.
