UK rebounds from crushing loss, shuts out UofL 5-0

College Baseball

If the University of Kentucky felt any ill effects from its heartbreaking loss Sunday it didn’t show them Tuesday in a 5-0 win against No. 9 University of Louisville. Senior first baseman Gunner Glad launched a two-run home run, and junior left-handed reliever Mike Kaczmarek earned the win with four innings of one-hit ball.

The Cards loaded the bases with one out in the first inning, but UK freshman right-handed pitcher Jordan Cooper induced an inning-ending double play from preseason All-American Phil Wunderlich to escape the jam. Only one other UofL batter reached second base in the last eight innings.

UofL redshirt freshman Justin Amlung took the loss after allowing one run in one and one-third innings. No UofL batter had more than one hit in the game. UK senior catcher Marcus Nidiffer tallied two hits and an RBI. (Box Score)
