BluGrass Baseball Friday Review: Week 11

College Baseball

Kentucky teams were 4-0 on the diamond Friday. Check out recaps from those games as you prepare your Derby picks:

  • No. 12 University of Louisville swept a double-header from Rutgers with a 5-3 win in game one and a 9-4 victory in game two. Junior right-handed pitcher Thomas Royse earned the win in game one after allowing three runs on eight hits in eight innings. Freshman right-handed pitcher Matt Koch earned the win in game two after allowing four runs in five and one-third innings. Senior first baseman Andrew Clark was 2-3 with a home run and three RBI in game two. (Box Score GM 1) (Box Score GM 2)
  • Junior catcher Matt Rice led Western Kentucky University to a 7-4 win over Troy in game one of a three-game series. Rice was 3-4 with a home run and two RBI. Senior right-handed pitcher Matt Ridings earned his eighth win of the season after allowing three runs on six hits in six innings. Redshirt sophomore closer Rye Davis pitched recorded the final out in the eighth inning and pitched a scoreless ninth for the save. (Box Score)
  • The University of Kentucky slugged six home runs to earn an important 12-8 win in game one of its three-game series at Tennessee. Junior shortstop Taylor Black slugged two of the home runs, and junior second baseman Chris Bisson, senior first baseman Gunner Glad, junior right fielder Lance Ray and senior catcher Marcus Nidiffer also launched long balls. Junior left-handed pitcher Logan Darnell earned the win. (Box Score)
