Former Lexington Legends outfielder J. D. Martinez played just 88 games in the South Atlantic League in 2010, but his performance was still honored with the SAL’s most valuable player award. Martinez batted .362 with 15 home runs, 64 RBI and 83 runs scored before being promoted to AA Corpus Christi in July. While at Lexington, Martinez recorded enough plate appearances to qualify for the league batting title, and he also led the league in on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS.

Martinez is joined on the postseason SAL all-star team by his former Lexington teammate and second baseman Jose Altuve. Altuve batted .308 with 11 home runs, 45 RBI and 75 runs scored in 94 games for Lexington before being promoted to high A Lancaster in August. Altuve also stole 39 bases while at Lexington.

Former UofL infielder Chris Dominguez was named the third baseman on the postseason all-star team after batting .271 with 19 home runs and a league-high 98 RBI for Augusta. Dominguez has scored 83 runs and stolen 14 bases in 134 games. The slugger’s 244 total bases also lead the SAL. (All League Team)
