Inspired by College Baseball Daily’s list of the top 100 college baseball players, BluGrass Baseball is counting down the top 25 returning Kentucky collegians in advance of the 2011 season. We continue the list today with one of 2010’s breakout stars.
No. 12 — OF Jared Andreoli — Western Kentucky University
WKU Junior outfielder Jared Andreoli burst onto the Kentucky baseball scene in 2010, batting .341 with five home runs, 49 RBI, 61 runs scored and 14 stolen bases as a sophomore. Andreoli led WKU with 32 multi-hit games in 2010. He tallied a 15-game hitting streak from March 12 to April 3. Andreoli’s 2010 statistics rank first in runs scored, fifth in stolen bases and fifth in on-base percentage among returning Kentucky collegians.
During the summer 2010 Andreoli stole 16 bases and scored 32 runs for the Green Bay Bullfrogs of the Northwoods League. In 30 2010 Sun Belt Conference games, Andreoli batted .318 with three home runs, 19 RBI and 22 runs scored. Andreoli’s 61 runs scored last season ranked eighth in the Sun Belt Conference and his four triples were tied for fifth most in the conference. His 119 total bases last season ranked third on the team and are the most of any returning Hilltopper. Andreoli also proved to be quite the team player with seven sacrifice bunts.
