I’ve been working on other projects this afternoon, so I’m sorry about the lack of posts. Never fear though, Brent Ingram, sports information director for UK baseball, has an update of fall practice on the UK Athletics blog “Cat Scratches.”

UK Coach Gary Henderson told Ingram:

“The guys that have done extremely well this fall have been Bisson, Nidiffer, Wiley and Wright,” Henderson said. “Those four guys have probably had the best fall and we are very excited for those guys to emerge. At the same time I have been very pleased with the development and maturation of (left-handed pitcher) Taylor Rogers, (catcher) Luke Maile and (shortstop) Taylor Black.”

The 2010 UK baseball newcomers have been ranked the sixth best recruiting class in the country by Collegiate Baseball. According to a news release from UK Athletics, the Cats ranked behind Florida (1) and LSU (3) among SEC teams. UofL ranked 28th on the list.

The 13-man class is headlined by five 2009 MLB draft picks including RHP Jordan Cooper, the top-ranked high school pitching prospect in Tennessee according to Baseball America, and catcher Luke Maile, the top high school prospect from Kentucky. Outfielders Sam Kidd and Brian Adams (a football signee) and LHP Taylor Rogers were also selected in the 2009 draft. UK will welcome four transfers to campus, including 2008 freshman All-American shortstop Taylor Back, who previously played at Charleston Southern. (Read more)
